We are delighted to be delivering three courses that Careers Leaders can choose from.

Careers Leader Training (Core Module) - Accredited

Careers Leaders can choose to complete the Career Leader Training (Core Module) as an accredited pathway, rooted in the CEC's Learning Outcomes for Careers Leaders. Accredited candidates will work towards the three Careers Leadership units of the OCR Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development (Units 17, 18 and 19). To receive accreditation, there are three assignments, and a portfolio with accompanied report. This is a three-day course, with wraparound support before and after. The course is split into three themes, each with comprehensive and practical theme handbooks, resources and materials, to help Careers Leaders in their role.

Theme 1

Understanding Career Development

  • Developing a deep understanding of career-related learning and curriculum design.

This theme focusses on the WHY of career development - why is it important, and why does it need to be a strategic priority in your school, college or independent training provider?

Theme 2

Strategic Leadership of Career Development

  • Understand role and value of Careers Leader and how to lead and manage others.

Theme 2 focusses on HOW to lead career development, helping careers leaders to explore their role, theories of change, leadership, and management, to enable them to develop strategies to engage colleagues, leaders, parents and employers.

Theme 3

Quality assuring meaningful Career Development

  • Benchmarks, tools, best practice and statutory guidance and how to embed into a programme for each and every learner.

Our final theme concludes our training with the WHAT of career development - exploring the state of play of current policy and the tools at our disposal that culminates in developing a strategy, to ensure effective delivery of a meaningful careers programme.

Careers Leader Training (Core Module) - Unaccredited

Careers Leaders can choose to complete the Career Leader Training (Core Module) as an unaccredited pathway, rooted in the CEC's Learning Outcomes for Careers Leaders. Unaccredited candidates will receive the same training content and produce evidence of learning, but will not complete the required written assignments for full assessment and certification. This is a three-day course, with wraparound support before and after. The course is split into three themes, each with comprehensive and practical theme handbooks, resources and materials, to help Careers Leaders in their role.

Careers Leader Training (Top-up Module)

Our Top-Up Module, for Careers Leaders who trained over three years ago, is rooted in the CEC's Learning Outcomes, and serves as a refresher to previous training, reflecting the changing landscape of career development, guidance and practice.

Webinar 1: Role Refresher

Careers Leaders gain a refreshed and updated picture of their role and priorities, as well as current and emerging developments in education, training pathways, and LMI.

Workshop: Operations, Performance and Leadership

Careers Leaders will be refreshed with the principles of leadership and management, change management and organisation culture.
Drawing on the Trust's and Complete-Careers' practical experience of being in schools and responding to the latest policy changes, Careers Leaders will receive practical hints, tips and resources to consider operational benchmark challenges such as personal guidance and work experience.
You will undertake holistic data analysis of your current provision, review strengths and weaknesses and collate key components for your strategic plan. To support this, you will also conduct internal and external stakeholder matrix analysis and plan a communications strategy to lead and manage others.

Webinar 2: Strategic Plan

As an invaluable opportunity to share best practice, collaborate and network, and receive professional challenge on your strategic plan, our final webinar will see participants each take turns to present to the group their strategic plan for careers.

Evidencing your Learning

As you complete the course, you will evidence course learning through submitting key documentation such as your strategic plan, careers policy, CPD plan and links to your organisation's development plan.
