Apprentices will be briefed on the skills and behaviours which should then be demonstrated during normal working and evidence provided in the portfolio.

Knowledge points cover: backup and storage, technical documentation, root cause problem solving, basic network addressing, cloud and cloud-based services, virtual networks, cultural awareness, communicating technology to technical and non-technical audiences, maintenance and preventative measures, system security, physical networks and components, documentation of tasks/findings/actions/tracking/ticketing systems, electronic waste disposal regulations, deploying mobile devices into networks, printers and scanners, virtualization, disaster recovery, test plans, asset registers, system upgrades, log file/event viewer/system tools, network infrastructure (WiFi and wired), cloud and network architecture, DNS and DHCP, Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), LANs and WANs, virtualisation of servers/applications/networks, network protocols, back up procedures, databases and migration, Cloud security and firewalls, DevOps methods, elements of network architecture (hardware, software, protocols and connection media), factors effecting network performance (faults and error control), digital communications technologies, digital test and diagnostic equipment, principles of VPN and remote access security.
