    Effective careers guidance is vital to education and workforce development. The Career Development Professional Apprenticeship provides Careers teams with the expertise to support individuals in making informed decisions and achieving their future goals.

    The Level 6 Career Development Professional apprenticeship develops highly skilled practitioners who provide expert careers guidance and support.

    Designed to meet the needs of schools, colleges, universities, and community services, this apprenticeship equips individuals with expertise in career coaching, labour market knowledge, information advice and guidance, ethical practice, and professional communication. Apprentices gain the skills and confidence to help people make informed choices, plan their futures, and achieve their career goals.

    Duration

    24 months + 15 week assessment period

    Delivery Method

    This programme is delivered through online workshops once per month

    Assessment

    The assessment includes:

    - A professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence

    - A project written up as a 4000 word written assignment

    Funding

    Course value: £9000

    Funded through the apprenticeship levy or Government co-investment

    Progression Pathways

    Apprentices on this programme are equipped with knowledge and skills to build a successful career in education. They regularly go on to further develop, including:

    • Progression to registered Career Development Professional status with the Career Development Institute (CDI).

    • Employment as a Career Adviser, Career Coach, Employability Adviser, or Careers Leader in schools, colleges, universities, and training providers.

    • Opportunities to specialise in areas such as SEND careers guidance, labour‑market intelligence, employer engagement, or coaching.

    • Advancement into senior, lead, or management roles within careers services and employability teams.
